Bahrain’s Al-Wefaq Islamic Society, the country’s largest anti-regime coalition, accused the regime of torturing and pressuring the Shia activists to make false confessions.
The verdict against Shia activists was issued two days after another court had acquitted two security officers of killing anti-regime demonstrators in February 2011.
Bahrain’s opposition groups have criticized the dual stances of the country’s courts vis-à-vis the anti-regime protestors and the security forces.
