Leader of Bahrain’s Shi’ites Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Ghassem underlined the need for holding a referendum in the country to put an end to end to oppression.
Addressing Friday prayer worshippers at Imam Sadeq Mosque in Manama, he referred to the talks between some political groups and the Al-e Khalifa regime, saying that none of the two sides of the talks has been authorized by the people of Bahrain.
Whatever the outcome of the talks, it should be put to referendum so that the people can decide, he added.
The senior cleric added that the Bahraini nation is prepared for interactions to reach serious reforms.
Elsewhere in his Friday prayer sermon, Ayatollah Ghassem criticized the Al-e Khalifa regime for refusing to hand the body of Martyr Mahmoud Al-Jaziri to his family for burial. Al-Jaziri was killed by the regime forces more than 80 days ago.
He said while a large number of men and women have been imprisoned by the Al-e Khalifa, the regime is now holding the martyrs.
The Bahraini Shia leader went on to slam the regime for considering no value for the nation of Bahrain.
