Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini urged that the rich Iranian and Islamic culture should be presented to the world through holding cultural exhibitions.
He made the remark on Saturday at the opening ceremony of a book exhibition titled “Yad-e Yar-e Mehrban” (memory of kind friend).
Dr Hosseini stressed that the most prominent cultural aspect of a country is related to books, adding that exhibitions like the one launched on Saturday can present the Iranian culture in the world.
He referred to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s guidelines about book reading, saying that in order to implement these guidelines, the book reading culture should be fostered among children from early on.
“If children get acquainted with books at an early age, they will continue this path throughout their life.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the minister of culture noted that 29 general and specialized book and publications exhibitions have been held in the current Iranian year (ends March 21) across the country, including a religious and seminary books exhibition currently underway in the holy city of Qom.
Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, chairman of Tehran Municipal Council Mostafa Chamran, and a number of other officials were also present at the opening ceremony of the Yad-e Yar-e Mehrban Book Exhibition.
