Shia activist Kunate Karim from the Ivory Coast made the remark in an interview with IQNA adding that “unfortunately, not all Islamic communities have such thinkers as there are Muftis who fan the flames of discord by issuing troublesome and erroneous Fatwas.”
He also underlined that the only way for achieving Islamic unity is through holding fast to the rope of God.
The Shia activist from Ivory Coast stressed that Muslims should set aside divisive issues like nationality, sect, race, etc.
He referred to the verse 103 of Surah Al-e Imran “And hold fast to the Rope of Allah, all of you together, and do not be divided” describing the verse as the best model for Muslims when it comes to unity.
“If Muslims act upon this verse, discord and disunity will be avoided in the Islamic society.”
Kunate Karim said the verse shows that maintaining unity is a Divine commandment and that the povot of unity should be God’s religion and nothing else.
“This is what the Holy Prophet (PBUH) did about the two tribes of Banu Aws and Banu Khazraj when entering the city of Medina, creating peace and friendship through Islam among the two tribes that had been at war with one another for over a century.”
He also referred to Islamic government as an important factor in realizing Islamic unity, noting that the Holy prophet (PBUH) was both the religious leader and political leader of the society/.
“There should be a just person holding the society’s leadership and realizing God’s commandments including the one related t Islamic unity.”
Kunate Karim referred to the Zionist regime as one of the factors undermining Muslim unity, noting that the occupying regime has robbed the Palestinians of their lands and is now worried about Muslims’ getting united and regaining the occupied lands.
“That is why they do their utmost to foment discord among Muslims, especially now that the recent revolutions in the region have strengthened the position of Islam.”
Elsewhere in the interview, when asked about Muslims’ reactions to desecration of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), he said Muslims, wherever they are, must condemn and stand up against such blasphemies.
“They should also familiarize the world with the great character of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),” he went on to say.
