One of the main elements of Islamic lifestyle is living a monotheistic life, a scholar said. Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Rahim Mirdarikvandi added that the concept of Islamic lifestyle is much more profound and richer than the Western lifestyle.
He said many of the terms heard in the field of science and culture today have entered third world countries from the West. “A brief study shows that the terms and concepts we have in our teachings are more comprehensive and complete than those imported from the West.”
Academic board member of Imam Khomeini (RA) Research and Education Institute further said the issue of lifestyle is an interdisciplinary subject as it is related to the entire life and determines the general framework of the life of individuals and the society.
He said when the attribute “Islamic” is added to lifestyle, it makes it much richer and better because Islamic lifestyle provides for both the material and spiritual aspects of life.
“In the Islamic lifestyle, God has determined the framework for rights and responsibilities,” he said noting that this lifestyle pays attention to both this world and the Hereafter.
He said the Islamic lifestyle presents a system in the fields of ethics as well as personal and social rights in which individuals’ rights are provided based on their status and positions.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mirdarikvandi noted that people’s citizenship rights have been discussed in the book “Risalat-ul-Huqghugh” (treatise of rights) and other religious sources, stressing that the scope of these sources, including the teachings of the Quran and Hadiths is very extensive.
“Islam’s teachings in this regard are rich and we do not need to look to the West for concepts about lifestyle,” he stated.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mirdarikvandi further elaborated on the rights of neighbors in Islam as an example of Islamic teachings in the area of people’s rights.
