IIUI to Hold Int'l Conference on “Problems of Quran’s Translations in the Subcontinent”

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) is going to hold a two-day international conference titled “Problems of Quran’s Translations in the Subcontinent”.
It will start on April 29, 2013 (Monday) 9:00 am at Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium , Faisal Mosque campus of the university.
Dr. Hasrul Sani bin Mujtabar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan shall be the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony of the conference.
The conference is being jointly organized by Islamic Research Institute (IRI), Department of Tafseer and Quranic Sciences and Department of Translation and Interpretation (T&I) of IIUI. Dr. Inam ul Haq Ghazi, Head Dept of Translation & Interpretation, IIU is the conference secretary.
The conference aims at identifying the problems, issues and difficulties associated with Quran’s translation purely on academic grounds without indulging or pointing to or highlighting any specific translation produced by any scholar of any Islamic sect.
Renowned Islamic scholars from various countries including Alkhamsa Aloui from (Algeria), Fahad Obaidullah, Muhammad Razi ul Islam, Tauseef Ahmed Parray (India), Hassane Darir (Morocco), Mahmoud Hassan (Egypt), Muhammad Najam ul Haq (Bangladesh) , Misbah Abdul Baqi (Afghanistan) and Pakistani scholars will deliver their lectures during two-day conference which is divided in three session each day.
In first day of the conference the topic of discussion will be on conceptual and theoretical aspects of Quran’s translation, Quranic style and challenges of translation and comparison between different translations and translators of Quran.
First day of the conference will be chaired by Professor Dr Mahmood Hassan Makhloof, Muhammad Razi ul Islam Nadvi and Dr Zulfiqar Ali Shah respectively.
Participant will discuss Approaches in Qurans translation and problems on Second Day of the conference. Sessions of second Day will be chaired by Dr Muhammad Al-Ghazali and Alkhamsa Aloui. Dr Inam ul Haq Ghazi is coordinator of the conference.
