'Quran by Heart’ Documentary and Discussion Set for Sunday
The public is invited to a screening of the documentary, “Quran by Heart,” and post-film discussion at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Carlson Branch of the Fargo Public Library, Fargo, North Dakota.
Directed by Greg Barker, “Quran by Heart” captures the excitement of Egypt’s International Holy Quran Competition, one of the Islamic world’s prestigious contests.
The documentary follows three young people who have dedicated their lives to honoring their families, countries and cultures through memorization of the holy text.
The film discussion will be led by Dr. Chris Whitsel, assistant professor of sociology at NDSU; Fawzia Riji, NDSU English major; and Dr. David B. Myers, executive director of the Center for Interfaith Projects.
