Nat'l Contest for Quranic Elites Planned in Iraq

A national contest for Iraq’s Quranic elites is planned to be held at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
This was announced by Adel Al-Kanani, director of the National Center for Quranic Sciences affiliated to Shia Endowments Office in Iraq, Nasiriyya website reported.
Al-Kanani said that male and female participants from all over Iraq who have managed to win the provincial stage of the contest will compete in memorization and interpretation of the Holy Quran at the national stage.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the first provincial Quran contest for women in Dhi Qar province on April 27, the official said that the contest was organized to evaluate the activities of female Quran interpreters and memorizers in order to plan a scientific program for elevation of their Quranic knowledge.
He added that other provinces of Iraq will host the following editions of the contest in the near future.
Bagher Fakher, director of the endowments office in Dhi Qar, also addressed the ceremony saying that 25 women from the region competed in the provincial stage in the categories of memorization, recitation and interpretation of the Holy Quran as well as Quranic sciences.
The first edition of the contest was held with the motto of “faithful woman, a guarantee for generations”.
