The Imam Ali Foundation in London condemned the heinous crime perpetrated by a clique hating Islam and Muslims to demolish the tomb of the Sahaabi Hujer ibn Uday Al-Kindly in Marj Adhra district near Damascus.
In its statement, Imam Ali Foundation announced this incident was not the first of its kind. It was preceded by other graves, belonging to the household of the prophet (peace be upon them) and their righteous companions, being demolished. But embarking and replicating such a crime during these days carries more than an indication that this venomous bunch’s action only aims to inflame the spirit of sectarianism and division between Muslims at a time when we desperately need to gather unity and affinity.
“This criminal vindictive act shows this bunch has no regard for Islam and its protégés and allies.
Hujer and his noble companions were murdered by Mua’wiyah in Marj Adhra only because they defended the sanctity of the Wilaya al Kobra of the Commander of the Faithful Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) who embodied the authentic Mohammadi Islam.”
“Their malicious action demonstrates ... that they came to violate the sanctities and the holy sites and run amok in the land.”
The shrine of the honourable sahaabi Hujer ibn Uday is among the important and general shrines for Muslims in Damascus. Its desecration and exhumation in this way illustrates the criminal terrorist and backward method of transgression and disrespect for Islamic sanctities that aims to destroy and vandalize them.
Based on our public responsibility, we therefore call upon all the chivalrous and committed people, especially those in charge, to bear their responsibility towards this matter by condemning and denouncing such a crime which warns of a great Fitna and a worse evil.
