Seyed Mohsen Mousavi Baldeh said each qari was a link in a sacred chain that played a role in preserving the Holy Quran from generation to generation with correct expression and recitation.
He emphasized the fact that the greatest and most important preserver of the Quran from distortions and interferences is God, stating reasons that completely reject the possibility of distortion of the Quran.
In the case of the Quran, ijtihad is not allowed, meaning that the individual who learns the Quran must apply and repeat exactly what he receives from his instructor and teacher, he noted.
It is not in such a way that because he considers himself to be superior to the rules of syntax, he is able to claim that, for example, this verse must have been revealed in this way and therefore it must be recited contrary to what has been recited and heard so far, he stated.
Certainly, if this had not been the case, no trace of the Quran would remain today, he said.
“Even the sayings of the Infallibles (AS) were not immune to this calamity, which incidentally is the criterion for us to be sure that the Quran was free from any distortion. The Infallibles (AS) introduce the Quran as the criterion for the authenticity of the sayings and Hadiths narrated from them, meaning that they consider the Quran to be the standard for the statements narrated from them and say compare it with the Quran. If it matches, then it is our statement, and if it is different, then doubt its authenticity.”
Mousavi Baldeh added, “Based on this, we must be sure that the Quran has reached us without changing its words or even a single letter, because if it were different, the Imams (AS) would never have made it a reference for all ages in speaking their words. What has reached us from the Quran is all that was revealed to the heart of the Prophet (PBUH) from heaven without the slightest interference or addition or subtraction, and doubting it is definitely considered a major sin.”
He underlined that, basically, the Quran is immune to any harm or attack.
God Himself is the Preserver of the Quran and has promised this protection; Where it says: “Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We are its guardians” (Al-Hijr/ Verse 9), he noted.
“This means that even if Muslims abandon the Quran, God Himself will preserve it.

He said those who recite the Quran themselves are part of the process of preserving the Quran and are basically introduced as a tool in preserving the Quran.
They are each a link in a holy and luminous chain that has passed down from generation to generation with the correct expression and recitation of the Quran, who have been taught at some point and have a role in preserving the Quran, he stated.
