Delay in Reforms, Threatens Efforts to Resolve Bahrain’s Crisis
Bahrain’s Shia leader Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Ghassem said delaying reforms in the country even for one day will be a threat to efforts to end the crisis.
Addressing worshippers at Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque in Manama’s Diraz district, he added that putting off reform will limit opportunities for the country to exit the crisis.
He also underlined that the idea of Bahraini people giving up their demands is wishful thinking.
Even those nations that have seen some of their demands met have not stopped their efforts to gain all of their rights, Ayatollah Ghassem said.
He said the regime has two choices. “It can either take just path, which includes giving up power, or continue to crack down on people’s movement, which will lead to more bloodshed, arrests and violence.”
The Friday prayer leader stressed that the regime’s method of oppressing people has produced adverse results and what the regime thought would extinguish the revolution’s flame actually led to intensification of the crisis.
The Shia leader went on to reiterate that there should be no delay, even for one day, in implementation of reforms in Bahrain.
