Al Riyami declared that the value of the prize for the contest, which has already started from yesterday, is raised with a blessed support from Sultan Qaboos.
The move is aimed to increase the number of participants and upgrade their performance levels.
“We used to start the competition before Ramadhan and awarded winners during it, but in this year we announce that the competition starts from today, May 6th, and continue until the end of August. This plan gives more time for those who have the desire to participate and compete for the first places,” he added.
He explained “for the first level of the contest, the value is doubled from RO 2,500 to RO 5,000 for the first place, and for the second level it is raised from 1,500 to 4,000, while for the third level it is raised from 800 to 3,000, and for the fourth it is raised from 500 to 2,000, whereas for the fifth level it is raised from 300 to RO 1,000”
The competition, which is in 23rd round currently, will have two new centres in Barka and Samail to accommodate the large numbers of participants coming from Muscat, since these two wilayats are the nearest to Muscat.
Besides, there will be a main committee that will supervise all centres and sort out the results through a specialised committee.
