Political, Economic Epic Needed for Continuing Path of Progress
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei said continuing the path of the country’s progress needs creation of political and economic epic.
Imam Khamenei made the statement on Wednesday, May 8, in a meeting with thousands of teachers and education ministry staff on the occasion of Teachers’ Week.
His Eminence referred to the amazing progress, especially in scientific fields, made by the Iranian nation in the past three decades, and said in order to continue this path, a political and economic epic is needed and the education ministry certainly has a role to play in this regard.
The Supreme Leader regarded the ministry’s role as very important in creating a developed society possessing lofty human characteristics and Islamic lifestyle.
His Eminence commemorated Martyr Motahhari (whose martyrdom marks the Teachers Day) and highlighted the important role of teachers in Islamic society.
In order for a society to gain welfare, enrichment, scientific progress, bravery, wisdom and intellectuality, there needs to be efforts to train and teach children and teenagers and teachers shoulder a great part of this task, the Supreme Leader said.
His Eminence stressed the need for fundamental change in the education ministry in order to bring about change in society based on the Islamic tenets.
Imam Khamenei pointed to the Charter for Educational Development and stressed the need for implementing it while considering all aspects and without haste.
His Eminence appreciated teachers for their endeavors to teach and train students and praised the teachers’ steadfastness in defending the interests of the Islamic Revolution in the past 34 years.
“In this year that has been named the Year of Political and Economic Epic, the Education Ministry can certainly play a role in realization of this epic.”
The Supreme Leader also highlighted the importance of the upcoming elections in both political and economic epics.
Imam Khamenei underlined that with the blessings of God the Iranian nation will succeed in creating political and economic epic.
Before the Supreme Leader’s statements, Minister of Education Hamid Reza Hajibabayi presented a report about the implementation of the Charter for Educational Development.
