Over 200 Papers Sent for Int’l Symposium on Self-sacrifice and Martyrdom

Secretary of the 1st international Symposium on Self-Sacrifice and Martyrdom announced that more than 200 abstract papers were sent to the secretariat of the program.
Hadi Fayyadh told IQNA that from among the 222 abstracts, 210 were from Iran and 12 others were submitted by scholars from abroad.
He said that the aim of the symposium is to shed more light on self-sacrifice and martyrdom as human behaviors by studying them from the viewpoints of a variety of academic disciplines.
The symposium tries to gather scholars from disciplines of psychology, religious studies, art studies and other academic discipline in which self-sacrifice and martyrdom can be discussed.
Some of the main themes of the event will be “philosophical and ethical studies of self-sacrifice and martyrdom”, “self-sacrifice and martyrdom from religious and mystical perspectives”, and “self-sacrifice and martyrdom in Islamic beliefs and culture”.
Other themes include “self-sacrifice, martyrdom and social movements”, “cultural anthropology and cultural studies of self-sacrifice and martyrdom”, “psychological studies of self-sacrifice and martyrdom” and “self-sacrifice and martyrdom in arts”.
The first edition of the international symposium will be held on September 24 and 25 in Tehran.
