The movement said in a statement on Tuesday, on the sixty-fifth anniversary of the Nakba, that "the occupation of Palestine and the displacement of its people represent big historical crime against our people and our Arab and Islamic nation. Since the occupation Israel has been exercising the most heinous crimes and massacres against the people, the land and sanctities."
Hamas hailed the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and prisoners facing the occupation aggression and projects, stressing that the people adhere to their national constants and will always defend their land and sanctities until regaining their rights, liberating their land and prisoners and achieving the right of return.
It asserted in its statement that it will never waive or give up any of the Palestinian people's national rights.
It also asserted that the resistance will always remain the only way to maintain the constants, to extract the rights, defend the holy sites and liberate the land, and that the futile negotiations with the occupation have proved their failure in maintaining the rights and constants.
"Al-Aqsa Mosque will always remain a purely Islamic endowment. Jerusalem will remain the eternal capital of Palestine and the Arab and Islamic nation, and the Israeli ongoing efforts will never succeed to obliterate the Arab and Islamic monuments and to change the historical facts."
Hamas stressed that the right of return of refugees to their towns and villages from which they were uprooted is a legitimate inalienable right that cannot be subject to any statute of limitations.
It emphasized on its commitment to restore the national unity, urging President Mahmoud Abbas, members of Fatah movement and the Palestinian factions to achieve the reconciliation files as a one package, according to what has been agreed upon in Cairo and Doha.
The movement called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League to protect the Palestinian land, Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque and all the Islamic and Christian holy places and to take practical steps to deter the occupation from continuing its crimes against the Palestinian land and sanctuaries.
It also called on the Arab and Islamic nation and the free people around the world to continue to support the steadfastness of Palestinians.
