The first edition of a research forum of Iraqi Quranic institutes was held on May 23 in the holy city of Najaf.
According to the website of Imam Ali’s (AS) holy shrine, the program was organized on the sidelines of the 1st Alawi Festival, which has been underway in the city since May 22.
“Imam Ali’s (AS) Birth, Minaret of Ummah and the Light of Seekers” was the motto of the forum organized by the custodianship of Imam Ali’s (AS) holy shrine.
A number of scholars, Quran reciters, Iraqi cultural figures and international intellectuals participated at the forum hosted by the holy shrine’s hotel in Najaf.
Speaking at the event, Ali Khuzair Hajji, supervisor of the programs of Alawi Festival, said that the forum was held on the second day of the festival aiming to unify Quranic views in order to stage a Quranic movement.
He added that Quranic schools and institutes in Iraq have reached a good level of development in Quranic fields.
“Teaching Quran; traditional and modern methods”, “the condition of academic Quranic activities and the methods of developing such activities”, “Quranic institutes and their role in the society” and “the role of the holy sites of Iraq in dissemination of Quranic culture” were among the themes of the forum.
At the end of the program, it was proposed that a specialized Quranic satellite network to be launched under the supervision of Quranic institutes in Iraq in order to disseminate and develop Islamic injunctions and teachings of the Divine Book.
