Speaking to IQNA, Morteza Khedmatkar, who heads the education department of the ministry’s Quran and Etrat Deputy said a special committee called “Other Groups” will coordinate efforts to train Quran memorizers.
He said the Specialized Council for Developing the Quranic Culture (SCDQC) has tasked the Culture Ministry to run the committee.
“In its latest meeting, the committee decided that a center for assessing the development of Quranic knowledge be established under the supervision of the SCDQC,” Khedmatkar noted.
He said the center will evaluate the performance of each of the bodies participating in the plan to train Quran memorizers.
“The share of each of them, such as the Islamic seminaries, Islamic Development Organization, Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, Culture Ministry, Basij, Armed Forces, etc, in training Quran memorizers has been determined and so has their responsibilities.”
The official also noted that implementation of the Quranic Plan 1447 (marking the 1447th anniversary of the revelation of the Quran to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart) will start next month.
He added that the plan’s main objective is to promote memorization of the Holy Quran.
