Egyptian Mufti Condemns Bloodshed in Iraq

Egypt’s grand Mufti Sheikh Shoqi Alam condemned the recent wave of violence in Iraq and called for an end to the bloodshed in the country.
In a meeting with Iraq’s grand Mufti Sheikh Rafi Al-Refaei, Sheikh Alam also urged for efforts for ending discord and disunity and for uniting under the flag of Islam, Al-Yawm Al-Sabi daily reported.
He warned against sectarianism in Iraq and said sectarianism is like a ticking bomb threatening the Muslim and Arab world.
Sheikh Alam also said Egypt’s Dar-ol-Ifta is ready for providing support to Iraq and enhancing religious cooperation with the country.
Sheikh Al-Refaei for his part praised the role of Egypt’s Dar-ol-Ifta in promoting moderation and non-violence and said relations between Iraq and Egypt are deep and strong.
