The ceremony at Tehran’s Summit Convention Center was attended by head of the supreme Leader’s office Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi-Golpayegani, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi, members of parliament, government officials and Quran reciters and memorizers.
It began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by acclaimed Iranian reciter and winner of the previous edition of the contest Qassem Moqaddami, followed by a speech delivered by Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi.
He said Iran is hosting representatives of more than 70 countries from 4 continents of the world in this competition.
“We thank God that gave us the Holy Quran so that we can gather together here because of the Quran and hold fast to the Habllullah (rope of God) because our salvation lies in acting upon the Quran.”
He referred to the good performance of Iranian Quran reciters and memorizers in international Quran competitions as well as the country’s good record in acting upon the Quran, Quran teaching and training, etc and said these accomplishments have been made possible through the guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Elsewhere in his speech, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization referred to the demise anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini (RA) and commemorated the late Imam.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi-Golpayegani also took the podium at the ceremony, welcoming the guests and urging them to relate what they see in the Islamic Republic of Iran to their countrymen.
He underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the only country where the tenets of the Quran and the teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) are acted upon.
30th International Holy Quran Competition will be underway at Tehran’s Summit Convention Center until Thursday, June 6.
