Identifying Quranic Elites, Among Objectives of Int’l Quran Contest

Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization said identifying Quranic elites of the Muslim world is among the objectives of the International Quran Competition.
Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi made the remark in an interview with Quran TV about the 30th edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Internationals Holy Quran Competition.
He said Quran reciters and memorizers spend a lot of time and make many endeavors to reach a level required for attending international Quranic events, and that the competition is a venue for testing their capabilities and honoring them.
The cleric referred to enhancing Islamic unity and solidarity based on the Holy Quran as another aim of the contest, noting that at a time when the enemies seek to spread disunity among Muslims, holding fast to the Holy Quran can ensure Islamic unity.
He added that the contest is also aimed at spreading the spiritual, Quranic atmosphere in society, introducing Quranic role models to the youth and teenagers and elevating the level of Quranci activities in the country.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi pointed to the activities planned on the sidelines of the competition, saying that the congress for honoring women Quran activists will be held on Sunday, June 12.
“There is also a Quranic research seminar with the theme of Quran and Lifestyle, in which papers from the Universities of Imam Sadeq (AS), Quranic Sciences and Razavi as well as seminaries will be presented.”
He said organizing Quranic courses and Quran recitation sessions, visits to religious sites and the house of the late Imam Khomeini (RA), mounting an exhibition of cultural products and holding Quranic forums are among other sideline programs.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi said in this edition of the competition 17 Quran experts, 9 foreign and 8 Iranian experts, make up the jury panel.
Iran's 30th International Holy Quran Competition kicked off in Tehran on Friday, May 31.
