Iran's Int’l Quran Competition Wraps up

The 30th edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s 30th International Holy Quran Competition concluded on Thursday night, June 6, in Tehran.
The contest’s jury panel is expected to release the name of the winners on Friday.
The last day of the competition began Thursday with finalist reciters and memorizers going on the stage.
In the category of memorization, the finalists were from Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Iran, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. They each answered three questions posed by the jury panel.
Following a performance by Madh-ul-Nabi Tawasheeh group in praise of the Holy prophet (PBUH), the finalist Qaris recited verses from the Holy Quran chosen by the jury panel.
The finalists in the recitation category were from Iran, Germany, Syria, Afghanistan, Algeria and Iraq.
The last night of the contest wrapped up with Tawasheeh performance by Urwat-ul-Wusqa Group from Khorasan Razavi province, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by prominent Egyptian Qari Anwar Shahat Muhammad Anwar Hassan.
The closing ceremony, slated to be will be held Friday afternoon, will be attended by the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Quranic and cultural officials and the contestants.
