According to letempsdz website, the capital city, Algiers, will host the competition, which is expected to be attended by representatives of Muslim and non-Muslim countries.
Munad Azuq, deputy of Algerian Awqaf Ministry’s Quran Education Department said 15 countries have so far announced readiness to send their representatives to the contest.
He said the Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry has invited 66 Muslim countries as wells as a number of European and American countries to attend the competition.
Azuq said winners of the the contest will be awarded concurrent with the last Night of Ghadr in a ceremony to be officiated by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
According to the official, 45 countries attended in the 9th edition of the contest held in 2012, where representatives of Libya, Bangladesh and Chad came first to third.
Mohammad Khatibi represented the Islamic Republic of Iran in Algeria’s international Holy Quran competition in 2012.
