Officials of an elementary school in Switzerland expelled two Somali-born Muslim girls from the school.
Au-Heerbrugg school managers said the reason for the expulsion was because the two wear Hijab, romandie website reported.
The two students from Somalia have been living in Switzerland along with their families since 2012.
They had been to this school for learning German language and had not faced any problems for wearing Hijab.
However, when they wanted to register for the school’s general courses, the officials banned them from attending the school.
This decision has drawn opposition from Muslim groups in the country. The Central Islamic Committee of Switzerland condemned the move, describing it as an Islamophobic action that runs counter to the Constitution of Switzerland.
Previously, two Albanian-born Muslim girls had been banned from a school in the province of Thurgau but they took the case to the court and their right to wearing Hijab was recognized by the court.
