Addressing worshippers at Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque in Manama’s Daraz district, he underlined that the Bahraini people’s revolution is a genuine movement rooted in injustice and instability in the political situation.
He said Bahrain’s nation sought to come to an understanding with the ruling regime based on dialogue but the regime refused and, therefore, a popular movement was formed.
Sheikh Issa Qassem noted that the movement has been intensified following continued disrespect for people’s political rights.
He said Bahrain’s revolution does belong to a certain group but is a general uprising represented by all groups of the society.
The Shia leader went on to say that the popular uprising in Bahrain began calmly and powerfully and with the participation of all groups of people.
Bahrain has been the scene of anti-regime protests since February 2011, and scores of people have been killed and hundreds more injured in the regime crackdown.
