Drafting precise and good regulations for judgment in international Quran competitions guarantees fairness in judgments.
This is according to Hadi Bin Muhammad Rusho, Tunisian Quran expert and member of the jury panel at the 30th International Holy Quran competition in Tehran. He told IQNA that when regulations are specific and accurate, contestants trust the judgments and jury members make more efforts to be fair in making their judgments.
He regarded Iran’s international Quran competition as unique in terms of precision in making questions and the large number of jury members. “In no other international Quran contest have I seen 20 Quran experts in charge of judging the performance of the contestants. This shows the importance attached to the issue of judgment and fairness in assessing the contestants.”
He also hailed the fact that different groups of experts assess the participants in different areas such as memorization, recitation, Tajweed, Sowt, Lahn, Waqf, Ibtida, etc.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hadi Bin Muhammad Rusho said he has attended numerous Quran competitions in countries like Tunisia and Morocco, but that it is the first time he attends Iran’s competition. “I hope this will not be my last presence here because Iran is a Quranic country.”
He pointed to the important role of international Holy Quran competitions in enhancing unity among Muslims and said participation of Quran memorizers and reciters from over 70 countries in Iran’s contest is indicative of how such Quranic events can bring Muslims together and boost unity among them.
The Quran expert further suggested that Islamic countries cooperate in organizing an international Quran contest because that cooperation will make these events more effective in promoting Muslim unity and solidarity.
