Egyptians Compete in Nat’l Quran Memorization Contest

National contest on Quran memorization in Egypt was held on June 10 at Al-Mina’ Mosque in Al-Ghardaqah, capital of Al-Bahr Al-Ahmar Province.
According to Al-Yawm Al-Sabe’ newspaper, the competition was organized by Ayat Charity Institute of the country.
Sheikh Husham Mashali, director of Quranic affairs at the charity institute, Sheikh Mustafa Al-Basarati, director of Quranic affairs at the Association of Ansar Al-Sunnah Al-Muhammadiyyah and Sheikh Muhammad Rizq Satur, manager of institutes and mosques affiliated to the association, were the members of a committee supervising the contest.
Children under the age of 12, teenagers from 12 to 18 and adults from 18 to 30 years of age competed respectively on memorization of 10, 20 and 30 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran.
According to Sheikh Husham Mashali, 50 Umrah (minor Hajj) pilgrimage packages will be among the prizes for winners of the contest.
