Addressing Friday prayer worshippers at Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque in Manama’s Daraz district on June 14, he said the only think that has caused governments to lose their awareness about revolutionary nations’ demands is the love for power and arrogance, Sawt-al-Manama website reported.
He said the popular movements in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Yemen that began peacefully were faced with the ruling regimes’ deaf ears and their violent crackdown on people.
He noted that the crackdown only led to people becoming more determined and insistent on demanding their rights.
Ayatollah Qassem added that the more oppressive the regimes got, the more people’s rage intensified and it led to the deposing of the rulers in these countries.
He went on to say that governments are not ignorant but their arrogance and love for power have caused them to ignore people’s demands.
