Mahdism and the belief in the Savior are an invisible link that maintain a constant connection between God and His Servants.
This is according to Belgian Quran reciter and religious researcher Ibrahim Al-Hashemi, who made the statement in an interview with IQNA.
He said a belief in the existence of a savior exists in all religions and schools of thought but this belief is stronger and more real among Shia Muslims who believe a descendant of one of Divine prophets will come to salvage God’s servants.
“The first requirement for believing in a savior is acknowledging the fact that God never forgets His servants and never leaves them without a Wali (leader). That is why Shia Muslims have accepted the 18th of Dhul-Hajja, the Feast of Ghadir [as the day Imam Ali (AS) was appointed by God as the HolY Prophet’s (PBUH) successor].”
Al-Hashemi said the 12th Imam (may God hasten his glad advent) went into occultation because God wanted so and in order that Islam would continue on its right path.
Referring to the society’s leadership during the era of Occultation, he said a pious and qualified person must assume the leadership of the Muslim society in this period and that person is no other than the Vali Faqih.
“Hence, the principle of Velayat-e Faqih (leadership of the supreme jurist) has become a central pillar of Shai belief system because Vali Faqih is the representative of the Hidden Imam among Muslims.”
He further said the world today is devoid of justice and in this time when the injustice is dominating the world, it is natural for the believers to be expecting rectification of the current status of affairs.
“The only choice for mankind for achieving an ideal and justice-based society is the reappearance of the Promised Savior.”
Al-Hashemi went on to say that although there are dissimilar opinions and theoretical differences among religions and even among Islamic schools of thought about the Savior but these differences are peripheral and the main thing is that various religions and faiths are of the belief that a Savior will come and save the world from the injustice it is suffering from now.
