Yusof Afrash, the communications deputy of the organization told IQNA that the purpose of the competition, which will be held at the national level, is to draw more attention to the meaning and concepts of the Holy Quran.
“It is also aimed at creating Quranic enthusiasm and promoting memorization of the Quran in the society.”
He said so far most of the Quran competitions in the country have focused on Tajweed, Sowt and Lahn, whereas the planned contest will encourage reciters to pay attention to the meaning of the verses that they recite.
Mr. Afrash stated that the contest will have two stages and that registration for the preliminary stage will be done in summer in the offices of the Islamic Development Department across the country.
Noting that the final stage will be held in February next year, he went on to say that more information will be disclosed about the competition next week.
