Saudi Arabia has cut foreign countries’ Hajj quota by 20 percent this year.
The Philippines’ Awqaf Ministry announced this, saying that the Philippines’ Hajj quota has been reduced by 20 percent like other countries, IQNA’s South Asia branch reported.
A ministry spokesman told Manila Bulletin newspaper that despite the reduction, the ministry will make efforts to make sure that Philippine Hajjis will perform their Hajj pilgrimage in the best way possible.
He said the Hajj quota cutback by Saudi Arabia was due to the plans to repair and develop the area around the Holy Ka’aba in the city of Makkah.
The Hajj quota for the Philippines’ Muslims was 6000 last year.
