Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei said the enemy’s all-out failure to reach its goals was among the highlights of Iran’s recent election.
Delivering a speech in a meeting with the Judiciary’s chief, officials and judges on Wednesday, June 26, Imam Khamenei referred to the manifestation of people’s trust in the Islamic Establishment and organizers of the election, demonstration of durable security as the foundation of progress and development, the presidential candidates’ adherence to the law, and manifestation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s power and stability in defending the nation’s rights as other highlights of the election.
Iran’s 11th presidential election was held on Friday, June 14, with the massive participation of people in the polling stations.
Imam Khamenei described the Iranian people’s epical presence in the June 14 election as a great achievement and thanked the great Iranian nation for their massive turnout.
His Eminence referred to the complicated and multifaceted plots hatched by the enemies and opponents of the Islamic Republic and said they sought to either prevent the election from taking place or dissuade people from voting.
The Supreme Leader noted that the enemies also had planned schemes to pursue their evil objectives after the election but, thank God, the Iranian nation demonstrated their greatness on election day and what happened was 180 degrees the opposite of what the enemies wanted to see.
His Eminence stressed that the reason for the nation’s great presence in this year’s election was people’s trust and interest in the Islamic Establishment, their trust in the election officials, and their hope for dear Iran’s progressive move.
Elsewhere in his statements, Imam Khamenei pointed to the nuclear issue and said there are some countries in the anti-Iran front that do not want it be resolved.
“The nuclear issue several times got close to being resolved but the Americans brought up new excuses.”
His Eminence referred to an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) document that says the problems with regard to Iran’s nuclear case have been resolved. “Therefore, Iran’s nuclear case should have been closed but the Americans immediately raised new points because they consider the nuclear issue as a good chance for threatening and putting pressure on Iran.”
The Supreme Leader underlined that for the enemies, there is no difference between issues like nuclear program, human rights, democracy, etc, adding that they only seek to impede the Iranian nation’s progress but that the Islamic Republic of Iran is steadfast in defending Iran’s interests.
Prior to Imam Khamenei’s statements, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani presented a report on the judiciary’s plans and achievements. The meeting took place on the anniversary of Ayatollah Mohammad Hossein Beheshti’s martyrdom, which marks the Judiciary Day in Iran.
