A Quran competition is going to be held in the French city of Calvados during the holy month of Ramadan.
Slated for August 4, it will be the third edition of the Quran competition of France’s North Western region, islamnormandie website reported.
The Islamic Center of Calvados, a member of France’s Islamic Organizations Association, will organize the event for the third consecutive year.
The competition has two categories, memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran, and is held for three age groups of children, teenagers and the youth.
The center says the contest is aimed at promoting the teachings of the Quran among Muslim children and the youth.
Winners of different categories and age groups will be awarded in a ceremony on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month.
Those willing to take part in the contest can register at the center until July 27.
The Islamic Center of Calvados holds various religious programs for the 5000 Muslim families living in the area.
France is home to Western Europe’s largest Muslim minority. The population of the country’s Muslims is estimated at around 6 million.
