Head of the Research and Studies Unit of the Award Dr Mohammed Abdulraheem, said the session will see six judges from different Islamic countries.
“The cultural program which will start on the first day of Ramadan, will witness 16 scholars, men and women, who are to spotlight the biography of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”
Dr Abdulraheem said the organizing committee of the award was geared up with a rich program of contests, lectures and studies. “All sessions have been assigned to the right committee under the award in collaboration with a group of volunteers.” The award will have the assistance of 100 volunteers during the main contest, lectures and concluding ceremony while over 300 volunteers will handle the foreign community lectures.”
Head of the organizing committee Ibrahim Bu Melha, who is also a Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs adviser to Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the 19-lecture program was to take place at three different areas: the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (for men and women), Women Renaissance Society (for women only), and Social Reform Society (open for foreign communities).
“All lectures are due to start at 10.15pm every night after the Taraweeh Prayer. Valuable prizes await attendees all along the 1 to 20 Ramadan Award,” he said.
The 11-category award, aimed to serve the Holy Quran and promote the general standard of the Quranic performance, has contacted over 160 countries to participate in the competition, held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed.
“Big prizes await toppers. The first 10 winners will receive cash prizes with the first winner being awarded Dh250,000, while the second will be given Dh200,000, and the third Dh150,000. The rest of the participants will be given a bonus of Dh30,000 each,” he said.
According to a senior official, all the visas of the memorizers, along with 19 assistants accompanying young and special needs participants, have already been processed.
The youngest participant in the Award this year is 11 years old, said Bu Melha. “The award will also to see a contestant from Norway for the first time ever.”
Bu Melha said the Award activities are to be posted to most continents of the world via five satellites – Arab Sat, Nile Sat, Intel Sat, Galaxy, and Hesba Sat. “An advertisement on the award has been prepared in Arabic and English to be posted during the award.”
