Five Shia Muslims, among them Shia leader Allameh Shehata, were killed by extremist Takfiri mobs in an attack on Sunday, June 23, in Egypt’s Giza province.
Molawi Abdul-Hamid Esmaeil Zehi, prayer leader of Zahedan’s Makki Mosque said the news was absolutely horrendous and that the killing of the Shia leader is condemned.
He added that such events intensify sectarian clashes and foment religious discord.
“We consider such events as very dangerous for Islam and are appalled by such behavior. We urge Muslims all over the world not to incite religious and sectarian differences.”
Molawi Abdul-Samad Sadati, Friday prayers leader of Saravan told IQNA that these crimes that are acts of terrorism are carried out only by individuals who know nothing of Islam and humanity.
He condemned the atrocious crime and said he sees the hands of Islam’s enemies behind it. “The enemies seek to bring harms to Muslims and Islam in any way they can. They resort to various methods to reach their ominous objectives.”
Mr. Sadati urged Muslims, especially the scholars and elites, to be vigilant in the face of such activities and make efforts to uphold Muslim unity and fraternity.
Molawi Khalil Arjomandi, Friday prayers leader of Ghasrghand, said those who commit such crimes in the name of religion are the puppets of the US and Zionist regime.
He said these actions are condemned by Sunnis and that no religion or sect permits the killing of people.
He hoped that the perpetrators will be brought to justice soon, reiterating that the enemies of Islam must know that they cannot undermine Muslim unity through such crimes.
Another Sunni scholar talking to IQNA was Molawi Abdul-Rahman Arefi, Friday prayers leader of Negur, who said the perpetrators of the killing seek to prevent the spread of Islam.
He called on the government of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to bring those responsible for the killing to justice as soon as possible.
He went on to say that Muslims know their enemies well and such events will only strengthen their unity and solidarity.
