Takfir Runs Counter to Unity, Quranic-based Intellectuality: Senor Cleric
Supreme Leader’s Senior Adviser Mohammad Ali Taskhiri said Takfir (regarding one’s fellow Muslim as infidel) is against unity and Quranic-based intellectuality.
He made the remark in an address to an international conference in Beirut, adding that Quranic-based intellectuality rejects Takfir.
Titled “Islam and Sedition of Takfir”, the conference was held on June 2-3 in the Lebanese capital with the participation of scholars and thinkers from different Arab and Muslim countries.
Ayatollah Taskhiri underlined that Takfir is a serious mistake, noting that the Takfiris shed the blood of Muslims although they know that the Quran rejects their ideology.
He said the Holy Book emphasizes unity and rejects sectarianism, adding that Takfir is against the call for unity.
The senior cleric went on to say that if radicalism and extremism spreads in a society, it will damage and corrupt that society.
