Tehran’s interim Frdiay prayer leader said the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s political stands are a manifestation and model for moderation.
Ayatollah Khatami made the remark in his second sermon while addressing the worshippers at Tehran University Campus on July 5.
He referred to the events that took place after the 2009 presidential elections, saying that both those who took to the streets and created the Fitna (sedition) and those who remain silent over the Fitna were extremists but moderation means moving in line with the stands made by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Ayatollah Khatami pointed to the anniversary of the US Navy’s barbaric attack on an Iranian passenger airline in 1988, noting that the US government not only refused to apologize for this crime, in which 66 children, among others, were killed, but actually presented the commander of the carrier that carried out the attack with a medal of honor.
The martyrdom of the Egyptian Shia leader Sheikh Hassan Shehata by Takfiris was another issue mentioned by Tehran’s interim Friday prayer leader. He urged Sunni scholars to take a stand against these moves by Wahabi Takfiris.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the senior cleric said the holy month of Ramadan, the month of God is close, urging Muslims to get prepared for the holy month, which is called the ‘Spring of the Quran’.
