Bahrain’s Shia Leader Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassem said the Al-e Khalifa regime violates the nation’s rights by resorting to violence and foreign support.
Delivering his Friday prayers sermon in Manama’s Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque on July 12, he added that the weapon of Bahraini nation against the regime is their steadfast faith.
He underlined that the reason why there are clashes between the regime and people is because the regime denies people’s rights, and “these are rights that one can not relinquish”.
The Shia cleric warned that Bahrain’s situation is deteriorating day after day, the security and economic conditions are worsening and people no longer trust the government.
“It seems that by trying to create another crisis to resolve the current situation, the government wants to cover up the present crisis.”
He stated that all indications point to the fact that the regime has no intentions of reforms.
Ayatollah Qassem further underlined that what is surprising is that people’s demands are ignored in a country that claims to be democratic.
Bahrain has been the scene of unrest and government crackdown on protests since February 2011.
