OIC Calls on Its Members to Cooperate in Reducing External Pilgrims

The OIC calls on its member states to cooperate with the government of Saudi Arabia by reducing the numbers of external pilgrims by 20%.
The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called on its member states to support the measures taken by Saudi Arabia in order to facilitate the performance of hajj this year, including the reduction of the numbers of external pilgrims by 20% and internal pilgrims by 50%.
The General Secretariat explained that this step comes in the framework of the extension projects being carried out by the government of Saudi Arabia in the two holy mosques with a view to facilitating the performance of hajj, umrah and visits for all Muslims.
The measures taken by the Kingdom are aimed at supporting the efforts exerted in order to organize the performance of hajj and the stay of pilgrims, including the current extension projects of the two holy mosques to facilitate the flow of all pilgrims coming from all over the world and organize them.
The General Secretariat stated that the decision to reduce the numbers of pilgrims by 20% is a temporary measure until the completion of the extension works in the two mosques to be able to accommodate the targeted numbers of pilgrims and umrah performers.
