Asheghi, who is in the competition hall now, in a telephone conversation told IQNA’s correspondent that he has passed the preliminary stage of the competition where a special committee analyze the ability of the contenders to enter the race.
He said 5 Quran experts from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, Turkey and Thailand make up the competition’s jury panel.
According to Asheghi, the presence of a few Quran experts, compared to Iran’s International Quran Competition in which the jury panel has 17 members, is the main distinguishing feature between the two Quranic events.
The Dubai International Holy Quran Award started in the port city on Tuesday, July 16.
