On the occasion of Qadr Nights, a ceremony was held on July 27 in Frankfurt, Germany, by the Islamic Center of the city.
According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, the program included Quran recitation by Hassan Sadeqi, a speech presented by Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hussein Azimi and congregational evening prayers.
The participants also attended a fast-breaking program and performed mourning rituals on the occasion of Imam Ali’s (AS) martyrdom anniversary.
Qadr Night ceremonies will continue at Frankfurt Islamic center for five nights.
According to a national census conducted in 2011, 1.9% of Germany's population (around 1.5 m people) declared themselves as Muslim. However, this is likely to underestimate the true number, given that many respondents may have exercised their right not to state their religion.
An estimate made in 2009 calculated that there are 4.3 million Muslims in Germany (5.4% of the population). Of these, 1.9 million are German citizens (2.4%). As of 2006, about 15,000 converts are of German ancestry.
