France’s interior minister admitted that the number of anti-Islamic actions grew in the country in the current year.
Manuel Valls who was attending an Iftar (fast-breaking) dinner at Ozoir-la-Ferrière Mosque in I Île- de- France region, said violence against Muslims and anti-Islamic actions have considerably increased in France.
He was invited to the Iftar ceremony by the region’s Muslims, saphirnews reported.
Manuel Valls deliberately refused to use the word Islamophobia and instead talked about anti-Islamic actions.
He condemned these actions and stressed the French government’s support for Muslims.
Valls, however, defended the ban on Hijab for Muslim women and said the ban should be implemented in the country.
France is home to the largest Muslim minority among Western European countries.
