Student Quran Contest Held in Manila

A Quran contest for Iranian students abroad was held on August 4 at the Al-Mustafa International University's branch in Manila, The Philippines.
According to Iranian Students’ Association in Manila, the competition was held with the aim of promoting religious virtues among the students and encouraging them to read the Holy Quran’s verses.
The university’s branch hosted the contest on the second day of Student Cultural Sport Festival held on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan in the Philippines.
The participants competed on Quranic concepts and Tarteel recitation of the Divine verses under the supervision of Quran experts of the university.
The competition began with recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran which followed with a speech presented by Hojat-ol-Islam Moalla, lecturer of the university, who talked about the importance of disseminating Islamic virtues in other countries through Iranian students and the necessity of holding such student gatherings abroad.
Also speaking at the program, Mahmoud Zalekizadeh, organizer of this edition of the contest, briefly explained the programs of the Ramadan festival, the Quranic contests and the number of participants at the programs.
The questions in the Quranic concepts category were prepared by the Union of Islamic Associations in East Asia.
The contest concluded at 6 p.m. local time and winners were awarded before a fast-breaking ceremony held for the students.
