Iranian Memorizer Comes 4th in Jordan Int’l Quran Contest

Iran’s representative in Jordan’s International Holy Quran won the 4th rank.
Mohammad Khakpour competed in the memorization of 20 Juzes (parts) of the Quran category, Al-Anbat daily reported.
The awarding ceremony was held Sunday night, August 4, at Martyr Al-Malik Al-Muasis Mosque in the capital Amman.
It was attended by Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, as well as the country’s grand Mufti, culture minister and a number of scholars and thinkers from other Muslim countries.
The international Quranic event was held in the categories of memorization (at three levels), recitation, and interpretation of the Holy Quran.
Top winners of the competition in different categories received cash prizes as well as certificates of honor.
Representatives of 43 Muslim and non-Muslim countries, including Iran, Syria, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Yemen and Bangladesh took part in Jordan’s International Holy Quran Competition.
Members of the jury panel, all of whom were Jordanians, were also honored at the awarding ceremony Sunday night.
