Fast-Breaking Ceremony in Ukraine’s Largest Mosque

A fast-breaking ceremony was held on August 4 in Al-Rahman Mosque in Kiev, which is the largest mosque in the country.
According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, the Office for Ukrainian Muslims’ Religious Affairs announced that the ceremony was attended by ambassadors of various Muslim and non-Muslim countries, officials , scholars, clerics and a number of Muslim citizens.
After Quran recitation, Sheikh Ahmad Tamim, Grand Mufti of Ukraine, presented a speech at the program and clarified the virtues and blessings of the holy month of Ramadan.
The ceremony continued after dinner with speeches by some of the participating scholars and clerics.
They talked about the importance of fasting and the status of the holy month in Islam as well as the physical and spiritual benefits of fasting.
The Al-Rahma Mosque in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, was built between the years 1996 and 2000 in the Tatarka neighborhood of the city.
Construction of the mosque took place in stages, with money donated by Muslims of the city. After the completion of the first part of construction of the mosque in 1998 there on Fridays, holidays and events held prayers.
