Kenyans to Mark Eid-al-Fitr on Friday

The government of Kenya has declared Friday a public holiday to mark Eid-al-Fitr.

"It is notified for general information that Friday, 9th August, 2013, will be observed as a public holiday to mark Eid-al-Fitr Day, 2013," said Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia in a gazette notice.
Eid is celebrated at the end of 30 days of fasting by Muslims and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Muslims in many countries have announced that Thursday, August 8, will be the Eid while other countries will celebrate the occasion of Friday.
