Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined that following the Iranian-Islamic model of progress is definitely on the Islamic Establishment’s agenda.
Imam Khamenei made the statement in a meeting with hundreds of academics and university scholars on Tuesday, August 6, adding that the Iranian-Islamic model of progress is an independent model originating from the guidelines of Islam and benefiting from Iranian traditions and needs.
In his speech, Imam Khamenei regarded such meetings with scholars and researchers as a symbolic gesture showing respect for the status of science, knowledge and academics.
His Eminence said the second objective of these meeting is hearing the various views of university professors and scholars about academic issues as well as the country’s affairs.
The Supreme Leader highlighted the progressive scientific movement of the country, saying that since about 12 years ago, a science-production movement began in Iran that has not stooped but has been accelerating since.
His Eminence regarded the movement as paramount and necessary for the country and the Islamic Establishment, stressing that the world’s credited scientific centers have acknowledged Iran’s scientific progress despite the existence of some negative attitudes toward the Islamic Establishment.
Imam Khamenei noted that according to these center’s statistics, the rate of Iran’s scientific progress has risen 16-fold compared to the rate 12 years ago and is 13 times greater than the world’s average rate of scientific progress.
The Supreme Leader underlined that university scholars, researchers, students and elites must not allow the country’s scientific movement to stop.
His Eminence referred to the country’s economic and political power and its national dignity in the world as an outcome of scientific progress and reiterated that Iran’s scientific progress must not slow down for any reason.
Imam Khamenei denounced some Western states for their attempts to hamper Iran’s scientific progress by imposing illegal sanctions against the country.
“Contrary to its claims, the hostile and obstinate front formed against the Islamic establishment and the Iranian nation, is made up of only a few Western domineering countries, and spares no efforts to impede Iran’s scientific progress.”
His Eminence said a part of the current sanctions and pressure against Iran is meant to prevent the Iranian nation from achieving scientific progress.
Imam Khamenei stated that the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 is the main reason for Iran’s progress, and the country’s enemies have not been able to hinder the country’s scientific achievements ever since.
Prior to the Supreme Leader’s statements, a number of university scholars delivered short speeches expressing their views about academic and scientific issues and the affairs of the country.
