Uganda Islamic Charitable Organization (UICO), held Quranic recitation contests at different mosques, where children below 18 years competed and acquired more knowledge about Islam.
Sheikh Luyimbazi Katungulu, the chairman of UICO, said whoever reads a letter from the Quran gets a reward multiplied by 10.
He said the competition had drawn at least 100 participants from different mosques.
He added that the best reciters won various prizes including television sets, radios, refrigerators, DVD players, clothes and cash.
