Iranian Cultural Center Holds Quran Competition in Sierra Leone

More than 200 individuals took part in the Quran competition held by the Iranian Cultural Center in Sierra Leone.
According to the public relations office of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the competition was organized in the categories of recitation, memorization (four levels), and translation of the Holy Quran into Krio, the main language spoken in Sierra Leone.
The jury panel was made up of Quranic and Islamic scholars including Al-Haji Abdul Rahman Hamid who is the Friday prayers leader of Jami Al-Islam Mosque in Freetown, Colonel Balal Konte who heads the Islamic Affaris Department of the Army, and Quran expert Al-Imami Sese.
Speaking at the event, Iranian Cultural Attaché Mohammad Reza Qezelsufla said the Holy Quran is the most comprehensive book of guidance that has guidelines for all of humanity’s material and spiritual needs and guarantees salvation in this world and the Hereafter.
He said recitation, memorization and contemplation of the Quran are preliminary steps for implementing the Quran’s teachings in life.
He went on to say that Iran’s cultural center supports Quran reciters, memorizers and interpreters and holds special courses to elevate the level of their Quranic knowledge and promote the Quranic culture.
