Security Beefed up in Iraq on the Eve of Eid-al-Fitr

Iraqi police and army have stepped up security measures in Baghdad and other cities ahead of the Eid-al-Fitr.
These measures are aimed at ensuring security in the country during the Eid, Al-Shufa website reported.
Major General Sa’ad Ma’an, spokesman of Baghdad Police Operations Command said security forces are in full alert in the capital to foil terrorist attempts.
The country’s interior ministry has increased patrols in the city using police vehicles and helicopters.
In recent months, Iraq has seen a significant rise in the rate violence and terrorist attacks in which hundreds of people have lost their lives.
On Tuesday, August 6, several car bomb explosions in the capital Baghdad and its suburban regions left at least 50 people dead and many more injured.
