The competition was held with the participation of top reciters from different parts of Algeria, depechedekabylie website reported.
It began on Friday, July 12, in the capital Algiers, and concluded on Monday, August 5.
Boy and girl reciters from 48 provinces of Algeria attended the contest and 12 boys and 12 grils made it to the final round of the phone-in competition.
The six final winners, 3 boys and 3 girls, were awarded at the closing ceremony last night. They received cash prizes as well as Umrah pilgrimage packages.
Six prominent Quran experts who formed the jury panel of the competition judged the performance of the participants’ and selected the winners.
Many Quran competitions were held at the international, national and local levels in various Muslim countries during the holy month of Ramadan, which ended on August 9.
